GPW Holding

GPW Holding GmbH is the holding entity for leading specialty pharmaceuticals distributors. It was founded in 2020 by Silver Investment Partners.

The GPW companies Lucien Ortscheit, Juers and Orly are international distributors of medicines that are not (yet) licensed in the importing country and can be imported in accordance with local regulations. Clients are pharmacies, hospital pharmacies as well as pharmaceutical wholesalers. The offering bridges the delays in initial drug registrations or supply shortages in certain markets. It also allows for patients with rare diseases to receive treatments that are not (yet) approved in their respective country.

In May 2020, Silver Investment Partners bought a majority stake in Lucien Ortscheit (Ortscheit), a leading specialty pharmaceuticals distributor, focusing on unlicensed medicines, with a focus on the export business. Lucien Ortscheit was founded in 1963 in Saarbrücken and acquired by the Kloos family in 2002 who turned it into a leading distributor of unlicensed medicines and comparator drugs for clinical trials. Ortscheit has a broadly diversified and loyal customer base, including thousands of clients in more than 60 countries. SIP is supporting Ortscheit to build on its strong position and expand its market coverage as well as its product range. It has also been the intention from the start to pursue selective domestic and international add-on acquisitions. 

In December 2021, GPW acquired the Juers Group, an internationally active specialty pharmaceuticals distributor focusing on the import of medicines to Germany under section 73 of the German Medicinal Products Act. Juers Pharma Import Export was founded in Hamburg in 1993 and in 1996 refocused on the import of unlicensed medicines, initially for HIV therapy. The company has become an established partner of numerous German pharmacies and hospital pharmacies.

In December 2024, GPW acquired Orly Pharma (Orly) which originated from a pharmacy in Venlo, Netherlands. In 1996 Orly took the initiative to make hard-to-find or not yet licensed medicines available for the Dutch and German markets. Soon, Orly became a leading specialist within the Benelux countries.
