elmi

When Silver Investment Partners acquired a majority stake in Erfurt based bakery chain elmi in April 2012, it was our second investment in the German bakery sector.

elmi was the largest bakery chain in Erfurt, with around 60 locations in total, and one of the leading suppliers for bakery and confectionery products as well as snack offerings in Thuringia and Saxony. The company operated bakery stores that offered the full range of bakery products – half of them in Erfurt –, coffee shops and a production site for confectionary and pastry goods. Most shops were run on a franchise model.

elmi was sold to Bumüller-Gruppe in 2016 and fully integrated. Bumüller is a ninth-generation family-owned business and one of Germany’s largest bakery groups.

“Our plan is to further strengthen our successful business in Eastern Germany with elmi and its bakery stores in prime locations.”– Gerhard Bumüller, Managing Director and Co-Owner of Bumüller-Gruppe (Buyer of elmi 2016)
